Paintings of Battles

Paintings described in "A Painter of Battles" by Arturo Perez-Reverte can be found by scrolling down a tad, and then scrolling to the right. You can pretend you are in the round tower looking at the mural by Falques.

These are the most of the paintings mentioned by name, with a few extras thrown in.

Not all are paintings of battles, a few were mentioned as models for particular people, or objects in the mural.

We start off with Uccello, "among many others but above them all--from the fifteenth century guided the man working in the tower," three paintings of the Battle of San Ramon. We proceed in alphabetical order:

Bellini,
Bonnard,
three Brueghels,
a photo of Omaha beach by Capa,
Carduchos,
Chagall,
Collantes,
DeChirico,
Dr. Alt (the volcano that dominates the mural),
Durer,
Fortuny, 4 Francescas,
3 Goyas (I recommend googling Goyas Disasters of War series. They are amazing if also distrubing. ),
Pandolfo,
Picasso (written off in the book as being a poor painting of war),
Pinacci,
Starnina,
and Weyden (a painting mentioned but not really part of the mural I don't think).
