one super show
saw the animation show this past weekend. the animation show. a great display of animation techniques and great stories -- funny, exciting and sad. i was telling liz that animation is often cinema in its purest: telling a story through visuals alone. most of the films in the festival didn't have any dialog, or if they did it was a sound effect, its meaning conveyed by its context.
they blow most of the short films from "the greatest story never told" contest out of the water. the tgnst name alone has been upsetting -- given the films are mostly stories that are all quite well known. the people's choice winner -- while a fine animation -- is basically a video; since the song was published first, isn't it by definition a story already told?
sigh. i'm too critical for me own good sometimes. stuff just bugs me.
