Need Source Material for TWO Murky Concepts

4Blabbers Unite! I need your help in tracking down the real fact and source dealing with the bigger question of what makes you you? (indeed, i am once again on an identity kick)

I remember hearing something a while back that our body completely regenerates its cells (either all of its cells or perhaps just skin cells, can't remember) every several years (can't remember the exact time), meaning that physically, we are a brand new person every so many years. Yet we stay the same personality, the same individual (or at least roughly).

Sadly enough, I think i may have heard this from a Deepak Chopra quote on NPR or some like place.

Anyone know what i'm talking about/have suggestions or leads?

2. I also need help tracking down the details on some bodhisattva or arahant or whatnot who apparently freed himself from the cycle of suffering and rebirth as discussed in Buddhism, not by practicing awareness, as is expected, by experiencing a pure and all-consuming murderous rage. I don't know much at all about this, other than when i read/heard about it, i thought it was a fucking crazy idea. Pure rage can lead to enlightenment, like this weird version of a monopoly card that sends you directly to boardwalk.
