privacy shmivacy

here to reopen the privacy debate (come on phillip, don't groan, it won't be as bad as the last debate we had -- whatever it was on).

I think the problem is that not that privacy is passe, but that it no longer exists, or it won't in a relatively short period of time anyway. and you know what? maybe we are better off without it.

so here's a hypothetical: say Bill has an email address, and ABC Company gets a hold of it by buying some list. wouldn't it be better for Bill in the long run if ABC Company was know all about Bill and knew that he would be a poor choice for their materials?
(this would assume that we would have a better handle on spammers)
